Welcome!
Thanks for stopping by, but before we get too far into anything I need to make something clear. This site is not for you. Don’t get me wrong, I hope you enjoy it. I hope you keep coming back. I hope you like what you find here. However, I didn’t make this site for you. Even if your name contains only an “L” and an “O”— one syllable twice tapped on the tongue, this one is for me. I’ll explain….
I first found LOLO around November of 2016. I was looking for something new and started from a playlist that I liked but was growing bored with pushing down into the individual artists on it. I’d tried at least 4 or 5 without much luck until I followed the catchy “Not Gonna Let You Walk Away” to someone named LOLO and the fabulously-named “In Loving Memory of When I Gave a Shit.” From track 1 (“Heard It From a Friend”) the Horseshoe Bar hooked me and by the time the chorus came around with the knife’s edge turn from total badass (“When you gonna tell me you fucked me over?“) to totally broken (“When you gonna tell me you don’t want me no more?“), I was done, ruined forever. To top it off, every other song on the album ranged from really good to spectacular. Each song was different in its own way; the album a promise that even though life was going to knock you down, damned if you weren’t going to get back up again, because somehow even through all the shit, there was no shortage of hope.
So, I started looking for more LOLO. I listened back through to “Weapon For Saturday”, got the Live at the Peak EP, and then discovered that I’d been hearing her for years as a featured artist in songs by Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, and Matt Nathanson. Finally, I found Lauren Pritchard, LOLO’s alter ego, and the Wasted In Jackson album. And Spring Awakening. And then YouTube. And Sound Cloud. And Vimeo. Etc. And that is what led me here. I kept finding this great stuff and I had no way to keep track of it. I’d wake up in the morning and have some random LOLO song screaming joyously in my head, maybe a unique phrasing from a single performance, and I would want to listen to it, but I needed the mechanism. So I built this for me… ok yeah, and for you too. (You’re welcome.)
There’s the story. If you like this site, hate this site, find an error, have some amazing clip that I’ve missed, drop me a line through the contact form and I’ll get back to you. However, if you really value this site, please support the artist. Her links are all there at the bottom of the page next to the giant LOLO graphic. Like her. Follow her. Buy her music. Buy stuff from her online store. Buy tickets. Go to her concerts. Bring someone. Bring everyone. Tell your friends and enemies both. There’s enough LOLO to go around, but there’s only one LOLO. Without us supporting her, maybe she can’t do what she loves which would be a tragedy. If that doesn’t move you, try this: the easiest way to make the world a better place is to support LOLO adding more of her music to it.
